Special Olympics Seminole County welcomes YOU to join our family! Whether you are a potential athlete, volunteer,
family member or donor; we invite you to become an official fan of Special Olympics.

Getting involved is simple and easy:
  1. Complete the initial registration paperwork (information below)
  2. Sign up for our e-newsletter - "Seminole Spirit" (sign up form above or click here)
  3. Start registering/participating in events of your choice
 
COMPETE
No matter what your ability level, you
can benefit from Special Olympics. And
no matter what your interest, there is a
sport for you. The best part is that
everything is absolutely
FREE!

Step 1:  
Athletes need to submit an initial Registration
Packet to join Special Olympics Seminole
County. Forms are good for 3 years from the
physical examination date.

Step 2:   
After forms are submitted, sign up for our
e-newsletter to find out more information about
sports seasons. (

timeline of sports season is listed on our
'Sports' page, along with more details on
sports, registration, etc.

Step 3:   
A few weeks before the season begins,
athletes are required to register online. After
they register online for a sport, they will be
emailed a schedule and more information
before the first practice. Each athlete
participates in eight weeks of training
conducted by talented volunteer coaches prior
to three levels of competition: County Games,
Area Games, and States Games.

Eligibility for Special Olympics:
An individual must be at least 8 years of
age to compete, but can train at age 6.
They must be identified by an agency or
professional as having an intellectual
disability and submit our Registration
Packet.
 
VOLUNTEER
Volunteers may serve as often as desired
by becoming involved as coaches, event
volunteers, committee members, and
more!As a Special Olympics Volunteer, you
can meet people, share ideas, master skills
& make a difference.

Volunteer Levels:
HEAD COACH
Whether you are an experienced coach or not, as a
Volunteer Coach, you become a role model, friend,
and a character builder.
Estimated 2-4 Hours/week
during 3 mth sports season. Paperwork Required:
Class A Form & Protective Behaviors Quiz.
Additional Training: General Orientation & 4-hour
sports certification in desired sport(s)

ASSISTANT COACH
Volunteers may serve as often as desired by
becoming involved as an assistant coach during a
sports season.
Estimated 2 hours/week during 3
month sports season. Paperwork Required: Class
A Form

VOLUNTEER AT LOCAL COMPETITIONS & EVENTS
Volunteers may serve as a game day volunteer or
help out withspecial events.
Estimated 4-8
hours/day. 1-8 days/year. As often/long as desired.
Paperwork Required: Class B Form

UNIFIED PARTNER
Unified Partners act as peers and compete along
side our athletes on a team.
Estimated 2
hours/week during 3 month sports season.
Paperwork Required: Class A Form & Unified
Partner Form

COMMITTEE MEMBER or OFFICE ASSISTANT
Other volunteers chose to share their expertise by
joining the County Management Team or joining
event committees, such as Grants Committee,
Fundraising Committee, Competition Committee,
Office Work and more!
Estimated 2-4 Hours/week
year round. Paperwork Required: Class A Form &

Offering FREE sports training to our
athletes is an expensive and difficult
task. Without your help, Special
Olympics Seminole County would not
be able to provide the athletes with
some of the following: transportation,
uniforms, training equipment,
awards, and facility rentals.
